The report adds that Adrian has a contract until 2021, which could run until 2022 if the one-year extension option is exercised.
Must keep him
Adrian has proven to be an astute signing by Liverpool. When he completed his move in August last year, few would have expected him to feature too often outside of the cup competitions, but he has ended up making 15 appearances in total already due to Alisson’s injury and suspension issues.
He has barely put a foot wrong. In fact, he made himself a hero within weeks of arriving as he saved Tammy Abraham’s penalty in the UEFA Super Cup final shoot-out victory against Chelsea. During his time between the sticks in the Premier League, Jurgen Klopp’s side shipped just nine goals – he hasn’t looked out of place.
Of course, Alisson is always going to be the first-choice goalkeeper, but it is always a bonus to have a back-up option you can rely on – and that hasn’t always been the case for Klopp. Before the 6 foot 3 shot-stopper joined, Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet were those called upon in the absence of the Brazil international – both of them had plenty of critics. No wonder Ian Doyle has called Adrian “Liverpool’s best ever No 2 goalkeeper – ever”.

Whilst Real Betis and a return home may interest the former Spaniard, the Anfield outfit must convince him to stay at the club. He has already proven his worth, and it will be hard to find a quality alternative who will be willing play a reduced role. In all honesty, it is hard to see the Reds finding anyone better to fill the role than what they already have.
