da lvbet: Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing West Ham United playmaker Manuel Lanzini, according to ESPN.
What’s the story?
da bwin: Since Dimitri Payet left the Hammers, Lanzini has been the main creative outlet, but as a result he has attracted the attention from rival clubs.
In the summer, Liverpool were rumoured as potential suitors, and now ESPN report that Tottenham are keeping an eye on the Argentine ahead of the January window.
It is believed that manager Mauricio Pochettino is keen to add some more creativity to his midfield, and his view could be strengthened even more given the club’s three-game winless run in the Premier League.
Lanzini, who has scored once and created a single assist in 10 appearances in all competitions, is tied down to West Ham until 2020.
Would he get a game at Spurs?
Well, the 24-year-old’s preferred position is the number 10 role, which could be difficult to occupy at Tottenham.
Dele Alli currently plays in that position, with midfield support from Christian Eriksen, but both players have come under criticism of late.
The pair’s performances were slammed by the fans following Tuesday night’s 2-1 defeat to Leicester City, with some calling for the duo to be dropped in the coming games.
Lanzini would get a chance at Tottenham, but he may struggle to convince Pochettino to start him ahead of some of his regular members.
From the player’s point of view, moving to the North London club would be a step up, but he may have to sacrifice some game time.
