da realsbet: Ajax attacker Dusan Tadic continued his stunning season with a brace in his side’s 3-3 Champions League draw with Bayern Munich on Wednesday night, and Liverpool should consider making a shock move to bring the Serbia international back to the Premier League.
What’s the word, then?
Well, the Reds came close to signing Lyon attacker Nabil Fekir during the summer transfer window but the deal broke down, and manager Jurgen Klopp failed to bring in another player that could feature in the No.10 role.
While Xherdan Shaqiri has been able to do a job both there and out wide, the German may still feel that he needs a player that can make a real difference in behind his front three, with his team sorely lacking in creativity when they play a midfield trio of Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Gini Wijnaldum for example.
Tadic only left Southampton, one of Liverpool’s favourite transfer hunting grounds in recent years, for the Dutch club during the summer, but he has already made a big impression.
How good has he been?
He is in remarkable form right now, and his brace against Bayern means that he now has 16 goals and a further 11 assists in 27 appearances, according to Transfermarkt, in all competitions for Ajax already this term.
Tadic may have just entered his 30s, but he is showing no signs of slowing down and as he often did with Southampton – especially during his first couple of years at St Mary’s – he is showing that he has that ability to score and create, and threading balls through the eye of a needle.
Given his age and the fact that he only cost Ajax £10m during the summer you would expect that he could be available for a reasonable fee in January, and the Serbian ace would surely jump at the chance of competing for a Premier League winners’ medal.
Furthermore, Fekir has only scored five goals and produced four assists in 15 outings, as per Transfermarkt, thus far this term, and would still likely come with a hefty price tag.
