da brdice: Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting in their droves after manager Jose Mourinho ruled out a move for free-agent Zlatan Ibrahimovic at his Olympiacos pre-match press conference on Monday.
da dobrowin: Reports over the course of the last week had suggested that the Portuguese boss could look to be reunited with the man he had when he was in charge of Manchester United following his exit from LA Galaxy, but the 56-year-old has now dismissed those rumours.
It certainly wouldn’t have been a surprise had he looked to bring a new centre-forward to the club given the lack of competition for Harry Kane and general depth in that position, but it was always surely always doubtful whether the Swede would be willing to play back-up to the England captain in north London given his well-known ego.
That is pretty much what Mourinho alluded to with his comments on the situation, and many Spurs supporters that commented certainly seemed to appreciate his honesty and straightforward answer to the question posed to him by one of the gathered journalists – perhaps something Mauricio Pochettino was a little guilty of not doing at times during his reign.
While one responded to Zlatan seemingly not coming by saying “thank God”, others chose to focus on their manager giving a simple and definitive answer, with one saying “wow” and another “my word” about his transfer remarks.
Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
Meanwhile, Tottenham fans have been reacting to a notable absentee from their latest training session, with one supporter saying they were “shocked”.
